Barb- I was touched by your courage and persistence. After hearing stories from people who stutter for more than 30 years I'm not at all surprised but I continue to be amazed at the length people go to in order to hide themselves and their stuttering. Your ability to change the direction of your life is heroic. As an SLP I hate to hear about bad therapy experiences and, of course, there are many reasons for that. It's difficult to get across the idea to students (or some professionals for that matter) that the stuttering experience is about much more than what is seen and heard. Your story helps. So happy you found the good people at NSA - the value of such support cannot be underestimated.
