She probably feels very alone in her suffering. I guess it means that she does not have the faith that she can be truly helped through therapy. I have had similar feelings about speech therapists with the covert stuttering issue. So many people think that if you can be fluent, you are cured. This is not even close to the truth with the covert stutterer. The more a covert stutterer hides and covers up, the denser and bigger is their iceberg (look at Russ Hicks iceberg article). I am not sure that the current SLP knows how to deal with the covert stutterer. I hope that is changing. Thanks, Barb
