Thank you so much for your article, Barb. I feel like you told my own personal story! I have been a covert stutterer most of my life, and now as a speech therapist myself, am working every day to recover from this. I look at it now, in retrospect, almost like a disease. I think the constant attempt to hide and cover up my stuttering has created an incredible amount of stress in my life over the years. This stress has manifested itself physically in my body in different ways, one of which may have been my recent diagnosis of M.S., but who knows? I feel like there must have been a connection, but of course I'll never know for sure. At any rate, I never knew there was a listserve for covert stutterers, but I'm hoping to find it online. Thank you for helping to bring this topic into the light!
