Like most stutterers, I had/have a hard time saying my name. I also have a hard time with the word "stutter". I have always had trouble with names that begin with a vowel. It is so tough to hide these types of words, since you cannot substitute words like a person's name. Sometimes I get it in my head that I am going to fail, and that the fear of that failing becomes overwhelming. This is the dilemma that the covert person lets overtake them. A small stutter becomes a huge problem internally and emotionally. It spirals to a crazy level that becomes too big to deal with. Many people think the covert stutterer is cured because they do not stutter openly like a overt stutterer does. This is far from the truth. There is a huge amount the covert stutterer is dealing with inside. Thanks, Barb
