I think that this Fact/Fiction powerpoint is a great way to get children to open up about their feelings about stuttering. In an understated way it allows kids to see that they are not alone in their stuttering (presidents and actors stutter, too!), that they are no different from other children, and that friends and family members can be a part of the therapeutic process. I am a graduate student with very limited experiences with stuttering and very eager to learn about the communication disorder, especially counseling patients. I am curious to know if you use this with your clients as part of a counseling technique? Based on your experiences would you say that this powerpoint is a good "ice breaker" to talk about deeper issues? How soon would you tackle the deeper issues, before or during treatment?
