Hi Amanda, Thank you for your generous comments - I'm pleased that you found my paper of interest. (Incidentally, I enjoyed writing the article - it made me think. It's good to exercise one's grey matter when you get to my age) ;-) You asked, "What made you decide that you wanted to try a different approach and was it all of a sudden, or did it take you months/years to convert?" I touched upon this in my earlier replies to Maria Palmieri and Walt Manning. Rather than repeat my detailed comments here, I wonder if I could ask you to kindly click on 'Contents' (above) and read the explanations that I gave to those individuals. You also asked, "Were there any times that you fell back on the Masker for help?". The answer is "No!". Once I had made the decision to relinquish my mechanical crutch, I was determined that the severance would be total. I, genuinely, don't think that I would have changed my stuttering mindset so quickly had I remained partially reliant upon the Masker. That was the path I wished to tread, although I would (of course) understand, and respect, another person's decision to use a gradual weaning process. I believe that exchanges such as this are to the mutual advantage of the PWS and SLPs. I wish you success with your studies. Kindest regards Alan
