Hi Katie, I have been associated with many of the major English-speaking, stuttering-related Internet groups for several years. Two of my close friends (one from the UK and the other from the US) met on one of these forums - love blossomed. I was thrilled to be invited to undertake the role of witness at their wedding (in England) in 2002. I am aware that several other PWS have also found romance (with another PWS) via cyberspace. The Internet can allow PWS to 'break the ice' and express themselves in a manner that their speech might not, generally, permit. We are all aware that many people are judged (and rejected) on first impressions when meeting someone face to face. The Internet enables parties to overcome initial shyness; develop a rapport; and become more comfortable with each other. In cases where one party is a PWS, it also affords him/her opportunities to discuss the subject of stuttering without the concern (and maybe embarrassment) of displaying dysfluency. Thank you for taking the time to contact me. Kindest regards Alan
