Hi Nikki. Thanks for your question. I have found that the best way to cope with a block is to back off from attempting to say the word, smile to myself and remember that the reason this happened was that I just got in my own way for half a moment and tripped myself up. (In terms of the inner game terminology it was just a case of Self 1 interference.) The important message that I am giving to myself at that moment is that there is no reason to be alarmed about what happened and that it safe to proceed to speak normally. Incidentally, I have observed that this is similar to the way fluent people often respond when they mispronounce a word. They back off saying the word. They then change state – for example by smiling, looking at the ceiling, or saying something like “Oops” or “Silly me”. Then they proceed to speak normally. I hope this helps. Winton
