Hello Alisa. You asked: <<Does it help you to read through what you are going to read aloud in your head before actually reading it aloud? What are the steps you personally go through before speaking aloud?>> In normal conversation I don’t go through any steps before speaking. I just speak with the intention of speaking normally. If I am practicing fluent speech I just read aloud with the intention of speaking normally and maintaining awareness of speech. If I am rehearsing a speech I do this by myself using a tape recorder and then play the recording back to myself. I also rehearse speeches in my mind. I hope this helps. If I have to read something aloud before an audience I find it helps greatly to have actually read it through first so I can understand what I am reading. I hope this helps. Regards, Winton.
