Read your story in "Extraordinary People" as well as this paper. I've been a stutterer for as long as I can remember, and have never really been involved with other stutterers. Certainly no involvement with a conference such as this. Until recently, I had little contact with fellow stutterers. I had a lot of grief from peers about my stutter, but always bore it alone and typically for me, blamed it all on myself. Am hugely embarassed to say that for some reason I never considered that other stutterers might have these experiences too! A ridiculously selfish notion, but reading some of the papers here has had a profound effect on my understanding of others. The thought of others going through what I did has unexpectedly hit my emotions very hard this afternoon, and I congratulate you for all the excellent work you are doing. Kind regards Tony
