Thanks for your answer Anita. It is very eloquent. I'd love to share with some of the clients I have. As speech therapist I think I have accidentally sent the message to clients that "you should love your stuttering." And that is by no means the case. I now use the saying "the opposite of hate isn't love; it's apathy." But these words can ring hollow coming from someone like me who doesn't stutter, and oversimplifies things a bit. What you have written here explains the complex relationship one person has with stuttering. It is very valuable. Thanks again.
