Hallo Gert You're so right. We should not let anyone to be our voice but ourselves. SLPs are experts in the field of treatment. Researchers are experts in their field. And politicians are experts in their own field (or at least should be...), so they need to get information on specific issues from experts. I believe neither of us is the soul expert here, instead it's all of us together. Therefor we have to listen and learn from each other. Come closer. Go to each others meetings, join each others chatgroups, be speakers at each others congresses, educations and self help group meetings. Not to be the one and only master, but to learn from each other. I did read about the problems with this politician in Belgium. Many people think a stutterer is someone having a repitition or a block every once in a while and we're not helping here, hiding our stutters and chase the fluency God. So the only way to get them to understand is to bring a covert PWS, a mild PWS as well as a PWS with heavy blocks, repetitions and jerks. A parent and a child. To show the huge spectrum of those who stutter. You say that you hope OTHERS will change their attitude. You have two strong support groups in Belgium. Join hands and raise your voices together. Good luck!!! Anita
