Yes, there are pros and cons to have this "disability" mark. Simply because the term "disabled" is so loaded. Many people intricate the word disability with someone who is less capable, physically as well as mentally, instead of seeing it as hinders being put up in front of a fully capable person, who just needs some adjustments. If we all would get the adjustments we need, such as a device or simple things like more time to speak, (compare that to a wheel chair and an automatic door opener) we wouldn't be disabled at all! And if the label "disabled" will help the child to get special help in school to feel more confident, to get better grades and to be accepted as fully capable if only for some small adjustments, so be it.
