Both covert and overt might find the lable of disabled offensive. But that's because the label still implies that we're mentally and/or physically disabled, instead of changing the inclination of the word into the hinders that are being put on our way. If there were no hinders, there wouldn't be any disabilities! (Also see my reply to C. Hohenwald). I believe (yes, I'm a visionaire) that if we change the meaning of the word disabled, everyone is disabled in a way. For example not having the possibility to keep on working while being a mother, having the world's best idea but not having the money to bring it on to the market. It's all about the hinders being put on our paths. And as we need every single person to help us change the negative connotation, I'm counting on you! :-) Anita
