That was a tough one, eh. :-) I myself had both my knees operated at the same time and had to be in wheel chair for a while. How I counted the days!!! You have no ideas what it's like to go shopping and not come inside your favorite shop, not to reach the articles on the top shelf and having to ask other people to help. And now you had to stutter and experienced for a while what it might be like. You experienced people's reactions, which are sometimes wonderful and sometimes you would like to kick their "you-know-whats" or want hide in the closet and wait until the next Big Bang before coming out again to not having to face these same people again. If we could all step in each others' shoes, we might understand each other better. Some disability groups have open days where they force politicians to, for example, go a trail blindfolded or in a wheel chair. If we could make our politicians (and others) stutter for only five minutes making them feel why there are so few PWS having a public job like they have, that might be an eye opener. You wrote "I believe it is a disabilty based on general public perception of those who stutter." Jackpot!!! We're not stutterers. We're not disabled people. Stuttering and disability is a state we're in. Thanks for doing the assignment. It will help you to become a great SLP! Anita Anita
