hi Melinda: You are right when you say that VR is a great TOOL to use in treatment. It is just that- a tool. It is not a treatment in and of itself. So, if one wanted to increase fluency and use VR, one would need to practice techniques that are known to increase fluency (e.g., slowed rate, prolonged speech, easy onset etc) in VR. Essentially, the VR environments allow for practice of these techniques in realistic yet safe and controlled settings. Hope this clears thing up. If not, write again. Shelley
