Dear Ms. Brundage, First off let me thank you for pursuing research in the use of VR with fluency disorders. I think many times researchers avoid this topic because of the cost of VR systems and the difficulty most therapists would have in procuring one. I think this topic is very relevant to the pediatric population specifically for the fact that VR can imitate real life situations. Practicing techniques in real life with one's clinician is very beneficial to PWS, but is difficult to pursue with the pediatric population due to various liabilities in taking therapy outside the therapy room. VR offers the ability to practice in virtual "real life" with one's clinician while remaining in the controlled, safe clinical environment. The cost of VR technology is still prohibitive, but I think that with more research and advocacy this truly valuable therapy tool will become available to all.
