I'm a graduate student and I'm in my second stuttering course, but this is the first time I've heard of acting as a method to decrease stuttering. I like this approach because this play in particular gives the actors (as persons who stutter) a chance to be persons who stutter, talk about stuttering, and deal with stuttering issues in a pretend situation. I find this method of therapy fascinating. Even if stuttering outside of plays doesn't decrease, atleast persons who stutter can find the opportunities not to stutter or not to stutter as much. I have a couple questions: First of all, how effective is this method in decreasing stuttering? Second of all, is there any decrease in stuttering that carries over into real life and if so, how does one make the transition from decreased stuttering in acting to real life?
