I am currently taking a fluency course at New York University. I found your ideas to be extremely interesting and feel that your Teasing Inventory is a wonderful tool. It seems to be a fun and useful approach to get children to open up and reflect on their feelings and emotions. In addition, the structure of the inventory is well organized. I like how each subject on teasing is subdivided into several questions. Many times, children feel overwhelmed by their emotions and may not know how to piece them apart. Using this inventory makes it easier for them to do so. In the cases of children who stutter, I feel targeting these important issues head on will allow their confidence to grow, as well as, their ability to handle themselves in these bullying situations. I am a large supporter of family involvement and I feel that this task encourages that. The Teasing Inventory is also a handy tool for clinicians! It allows the clinician to tailor therapy to the child’s individual needs. Over all, I think that this is great idea, whether it’s used in therapy, in the classrooms, or at home!
