As a current graduate student, I have learned throughout my coursework that stuttering is viewed negatively in society and as a result, people who stutter are considered to be an oppressed group. This article does a wonderful job of showing that stuttering can greatly impact self-image and the way people go about their daily activities. What do you think speech-language pathologists should do to help clients address the emotional issues and oppression that they may feel due to stuttering?
