Hi Lauren, ..... College of Saint Rose, eh? Wonderful school for speech therapy! I need to come up there and give an NSA workshop. It's on my To Do list, so thanks for the kick in the pants to get going on that. I've talked to several people up there about that, and the ball is now in my court. "Just do it, Hicks!" ..... Lauren, join Toastmasters! It's the most amazing organization for the EXACT problems you are describing. See http://www.toastmasters.org and find a club near you. Click on Find a Club, then specify United States, New York, Albany. There are 8 Toastmaster clubs in Albany. "Just do it, Lauren!" ..... No, I never received any formal therapy as an adult. By the time I got into the NSA, I became surrounded by a bunch of experts in the stuttering community and got "therapy by osmosis" I guess you could say. ..... And no, I never was much interested in the electronic gizmos that fit in your ear. I've seen too many of them fail. They receive huge hype, but they almost never live up to the hype over time. Besides the noise and distraction in my ears would drive me crazy. I'd rather stutter! <smile> But that's just me. If they work for other people, wonderful. More power to them.
