Hello! My name is Regina, and I am an SLP graduate student at NYU. First of all I’d like to say that I found your article to be very encouraging and inspirational. Your story has truly proven that despite one’s communication difficulties, one can strive and achieve wonders. After I read your article, my first instinct was to show it to a younger cousin of mine, who for as long as I can remember has had issues with public speech because he stutters. He has had speech therapy for years as a child and although his stuttering is very mild, he tends to shy away from all social situations and believes that he will never have a “normal life.” After he read your article, for the first time I saw a glimmer of hope in his eyes and I just wanted to thank you for being such an incredible role model and for sharing your story. You’re a true inspiration and I hope that one day, as an SLP, I can touch half as many lives as you have.
