Hello Sherri, ..... Thanks for your kind words. They mean a lot to me. ..... And you are absolutely correct when you said, "...your life struggles and successes can be applied to any life issue that someone struggles with." Yes indeed. If the truth be told, that's one of the aspects that really surprised me about those three incidents I wrote about in my paper. NONE of them were stutterers! The girl in school was struggling with Spanish, the Chinese girl and her Chinese friends were struggling with Chinese (duh!) and the entire American and Chinese cultures, and I have no idea what the guy in Toastmasters was struggling with. But he certainly didn't stutter. I can understand why I might be inspirational to people who stutter, but it still amazes me how I can seemingly inspire people with totally different problems in life. We just never know who we'll touch. ..... I'm glad my paper had a positive impact on you. But if I have touched YOUR life, now it's your turn to touch SOMEONE ELSE'S life! That's the way this game of life is played. We're all role models whether we want to be or not. As a future SLP, you'll have more opportunities to affect other people's lives than you can possibly imagine. The bad news is that you probably won't even hear about 99% of them. But the good news is that the 1% that you DO hear back from will make everything you do all worthwhile! ..... You might also read the article titled "Mind Matters" by Ellen-Marie Silverman in this ISAD conference. A lot of what she says has direct impact on one's beliefs and attitudes toward anything in life. You experience what you believe. It has a direct bearing on my paper. Her paper is really amazing and well worth reading. ..... My very best to you, Sherri! ..... Russ
