Russ, Upon reading your story, and all the comments posted, I know its not necessary to thank you for sharing yourself with so many others (I'll thank you anyway...Thanks! ; ) I am a graduate student in Speech-language Pathology and have a special interest in Fluency Disorders. Time and again I've watched individuals who stutter tell their stories. Most times--okay, almost all times--they are stories of struggle and despair. I would say I can understand why, but I could never even attempt to understand why because I, myself, don't stutter. It must be so difficult, and in difficult I am not trying to feel sorry for (I would imagine that would be worse!) I do want to commend you, however, for sharing YOUR story simply for its "glass half full" perspective. I believe will continue (as it has in the past) be an inspiration to many individuals who stutter. Often, I'm sure individuals who stutter share their common difficulties when they meet other individuals who stutter. How great it is that you can give them encouragement and motivation to talk about the good things. I love the "You can do it, so get going! attitude ; ) PS No need to reply as you have many posts to reply to. Just know your story is appreciated--as much as it can be by someone who doesn't stutter, but would love to better understand what it's like.
