Another thought that I should have mentioned before I pushed the "Post reply" button was that my involvement with the self-help movement within the National Stuttering Association was a critical factor in all of this. It's not just therapy that makes the difference. It's the involvement with other people with similar problems to mine that is critical to the success of a person who stutters. In the NSA we have a saying "If you stutter, you're not alone." And the feeling of isolation, that you're the only person in the world with this problem, is very debilitating. So once you realize that you are NOT alone, the isolation barriers can start coming down and therapy by professionals can be a LOT more effective. It's takes BOTH of us to really succeed. ..... Russ
