Hi Vicky, ..... As we say here in Texas, Boy Howdy! I wish I had an easy answer to that question! <laughing> ..... One minor point I might disagree with you a little about is that these organizations probably don't improve fluency. However they sure make life more fun and relaxing! And when you relax and have fun, your communication ability tends to go up giving the illusion (a good illusion, not a bad one) that your fluency is going up too. Remember, it's all about communication, not just fluency. Different concepts. .... You said, "Can you provide some tips of how to persuade people who stutter to attend such events, so they would not feel reluctant of participating the meetings?" A gun worked pretty well for me. <grin> This question goes to the very heart of how to motivate people. Motivation is more of a "pull" process than a "push" process. Try raising a teenager and you'll understand what I mean! Becoming a role model seems to work a lot better than suggestions and orders. "Come join me" is a better approach than "You should really do this." But the bottom line is if you find the real answer to that question, be sure to let me know! ..... I wish you the best, Vicky. ..... Russ, my email is russhicks@mail.com
