Don't despair!! We are definitely impacting peoples' lives with our treatment for stuttering. Of course there is not a cure. We have left the medical treatment model a long time ago, but we have programs that can allow the clients to learn to effectively manage their speech and free themselves of the desparate, helpless feelings that so often accompany untreated stuttering. Perhaps, we should not consider our effoorts ineffective if we cannot "cure" stuttering. Perhaps the larger issue is that there are two few of us to share this with our students. Hang in there!
