Just a few comments/questions after reading the above posts. While I think it is essential that we as students who are training to treat speech and language disorders need to be prepared for most of what we will experience in the field, I agree with a previous post that we are in no way specialists in any aspect of speech and language treatment upon graduation. I suggest to those involved with choosing what to teach, the goal should be to educate and encourage students in order to get them pursue stuttering upon graduation. With the schedule we as students face, where are you going to fit more hours devoted to a problem such as stuttering when it is difficult to even find clients to treat in our university clinics?
