I was also very interested in this thread. I am an undergrad in Communication Disorders and have had the great opportunity to be in a Fluency Disorders class which has focused almost entirely on stuttering. Fluency and stuttering have quickly become one of my favorite areas in Communication Disorders. My initial interest came purely from exposure to the topic. My interest has grown simply as I have become more educated about stuttering; through professors, research and things like this ISAD conference. I see that there IS so much hope for people who stutter. The exciting thing is that even though there is no “cure” for stuttering, there are different methods to help people in all kinds of stuttering situations. I see so much hope, that it’s exciting to me.
