Hi Susan, Thanks for your question. I’m not sure whether your question relates to standard, clinic-based delivery of the Lidcombe Program (LP) or to telehealth delivery, so will address both possibilities. A study by Lincoln and Onslow (1997) - I will provide the reference below - reported long-term outcome for 43 preschoolers treated with standard LP and demonstrated that these children continued to show no or very occasional stuttering in everyday situations for up to 7 years after completion of treatment. The LP text cited in my article provides excellent information regarding Stage 2 of the LP, which is designed to reduce the possibility of stuttering reappearing after treatment. The children in the telehealth study are being followed-up in the long-term. As I state in the article, several children have continued to not stutter, or stutter at very low levels for between 12-24 months post-treatment. Hope this helps, Chris Lincoln, M., & Onslow, M. (1997). Long-term outcome of an early intervention for stuttering. American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology, 6, 51-58.
