I do agree with you that it is important for people in the developing world have opportunity to recieve help and become more knowledgable about speech and language issues. This can be done through well organised self help group for people who stutter PWS, with SPLS coming in to offer speech therapy sessions. The idea to organise the conference came from the International tuttering Association ISA following the presentations that some people who stutter made during the 7th trienial congress for people who stutter that took place in Perth western Australia in February of 2004. Considering the fact that our country Cameroon had an existing structure grouping people who stutter in Cameroon and some parts of Africa, I was chosen to act as the conference convenor.I had been in touch with some people who stutter in Africa for several years. It was there easy for me to contact those people. Again, the conference was advertised in several websites, several magazines. Radio stations geared toward an african audience were also contacted and they carried on information concerning the conference. Conferences brochures were produced and circulated in many parts of Africa. So that is how we rallied people from Africa and other parts of the world
