This is a good question because the child he can have animosity toward adults who were reactive. I deal with it in therapy all the time. If the child is still at home, we may need to do counseling with parent(s) present in order to heal any wounds and establish proactive habits. This is very rewarding. This is also where cognitive reorganization, reframing, and cognitive psychology should be integrated. Changing beliefs, attitudes, and feelings abotu stuttering and listeners is often critical to true recovery. Good luck in your studies
