Dr. Mackesey, I am a graduate student in Communication Disorders and really enjoyed reading your paper. I found the section pertaining to the negative effects of enabling to be especially interesting. My question is: what is a specific suggestion or suggestions you might make to an SLP who is working with a client who has a parent who is enabling the child's stuttering? What might you say to the parent to help the parent realize the harmful effects that enabling has on the child? thank-you
