Hello! I am a graduate student attempting to become a SLP. For the first time, I am taking a class in fluency disorders. I never realized how emotionally charged the disorder could be not only the client but those close to the client. In a lifetime, a PWS will be faced with such an array of reactions to his or her stuttering. This makes it so important that SLPs are educated, trained, and prepared to be conscious of his or her own reactions to a client who stutters. Furthermore, a SLP needs to learn how to help family monitor their own reactions. This article was extremely helpful. Thank You, Kathryn Noerr
