Dr. Mackesey, I really enjoyed reading your article. It gave me good insights as to ways in which to approach a student who stutters. When talking about the proactive approach, you used the phrase "jump in." I am just curious as to how you feel concerning spontaneous recovery and early intervention. Do you feel it is important to start therapy right away once stuttering is detected. If so, do you feel indirect or direct therapy is a better initial approach or does it depend on the attitude of the family (reactive or proactive) as to which avenue a therapist should suggest?
