First off, I think highlighting both sides was wonderful; I got a real understanding of the reactive vs. the proactive parent. Without a doubt, we encourage the proactive parent, but what happens when you come in contact with the "reactive parent"? I really liked the scenario with Dr. Phil, but that is so true. What happens when you have 2 parents who are in a disagreement, which is only hurting the child/client? At what point do we get involved, and what do we say or how do we approach that "stubborn" parent? Also, thanks for putting in that excerpt about Kyle Maynard; that gives some genuine encouragement to parents out there, whatever the "disability" the child may have. In the end, we must advocate for the child or even the adult and get involved and be PROACTIVE because they are ones that we should have in mind. Thanks again for the wonderful article.
