Good question that requires a thesis. This good and broad question is like asking a computer geek how a computer works....but this questions is for an SLP who specializes in stuttering. :) 1)Affect: changing feelings about stuttering. How does the pws feel about his stuttering, reactions toward it, advice, therapy, etc. 2) Behaviors: teaching fluency shaping and stuttering modification skills. 3) Cognitions: reframing thoughts that lead to affect. This is integrated therapy. I met the late and great Dean Williams. When I asked him the secret to recovering from stuttering he stated: "i'd want to know what I di when I stuttered." Ponder this question. Read Barry Guitar's book on stuttering. Cheers, Tim
