When Judy asked me if it was ok for me to be interviewed by students, I thought this was a great idea and I hope this might be a start for all SLP students all over the world to interview a person who stutters, as there is no better way to get under our skins than to ask us. What she didn't tell me what that I would be presented as being extra-ordinary, which I am not. My speech might be extra ordinary compared to many others, my life might be, my ever-changing hair color might be, but not me as a person. I am the making of experience, friends, good advice, and an immense amount of support. It's thanks to those who picked me up (or kicked my butt to get up for that matter...) who made me into who and what I am today. Many of you replying here have played a part in that and still do, not in the least Judy, and to me YOU'RE those extra-ordinary people. So let's all see in each other's eyes and find that each and everyone of us is an extra-ordinary person to someone. The only problem is we often fail to tell them, so let's make the ISAD a celebration day for all of those who are extra-ordinary for us and you might get surprised to find you're on people's lists as well.
