One of the men interviewed in this paper stated that he did not notice his stutter until he was taught English, after which he stuttered in both English and French. The idea of stuttering in two different languages raised a question in my mind. I was curious if a person, who is bilingual and stutters, stutters in both the primary and secondary language? I was thinking that possibly a person who stutters may stutter less severely in the secondary language, because it could be viewed as a role (such as in a movie), which tends to decrease stuttering.
