Dear Katrina, I am not sure what "late evidence" you are referring to. Some older research suggests just the opposite, i.e., that stuttering is more prevalent in lower and lower middle classes. Some of this was reported by Andrews and Harris in England in the 1960s. Relative to your questions about trends, I assume you are referring to correlations between communication disorders (or stuttering in particular) and differences in socioeconomic status. There is a need for good epidemiological research in communication disorders, but so far not very much that deals with this issue. I'm not sure if my answer has been of much help. Best wishes, Ken
