Dr. Rosenthal, I am currently enrolled in a graduate program of study for speech language pathology, and happened to stumble upon this treatment idea. I must admit, I thought it was fantastic! My husband and I (even though neither of us stutter) went to the website in order to find out about our own survival skills and found the whole thing to be really fun. In doing this, we realized just how wonderful a "talking" activity this would be because the groups need to rationalize their decisions. So, I just wanted to say thank you for this great idea, however; I did have one question. Since I am new in the program and am currently enrolled in my first fluency class, I am unsure how to pick speech targets for fluency. I know how to pick phonemes for articulation therapy, however; I don't know about fluency speech targets. While I do understand that every individual is different (therefore having different targets, is there some general rule to follow in order to decide what the targets should be? I appreciate any advice that you might have. Thank you.
