Discrimination in the workplace is an issue of extreme importance that must consistently be addressed and is many times overlooked. The results of this article indicated that individuals who stutter face limitations in the workplace as a result of their own actions as well as their employer's actions. I agree with these findings entirely and I recognize the existence and severity of discrimination against those who stutter. Do you believe that it's also possible that individuals who stutter may have negative internal feelings and attitudes that adversely affect the way their employers view them? For instance, maybe they are offered less opportunities in the workplace because they do not appear to be confident individuals. It may be interesting to conduct a similar study that observes two different groups of stutterers; one that is accepting of their stuttering and another that views their stuttering as a burden. Do you think the results would be altered under these conditions? For example, would the employers be more likely to provide opportunities to those stutterers that held positive internal feelings and attitudes about their stuttering?
