Hello Claudia: Great question - but with no simple answer. I think the first thing that needs to be done is improved education for employers. That is, employers need to understand that people who stutter have the same capabilities to peform virtually any task as fluent speakers. Personally, I have met stuttering doctors, dentists, policemen, newspaper reporters, paramedics and professors (myself included, as I am a moderate PWS). I think that the Stuttering Foundation of American is helping to increase awareness on this front -- but more work needs to be done.
