Hello Ilana: Yes, our research did ask respondents their gender and racial origin. We have partially analyzed this data and did find significant differences based on racial origin. Specifically, a T-Test was conducted to see if there were differences in the impact of stuttering due to the ethnic origin of the respondent. The results show that non-Caucasians viewed stuttering to be more of a problem in the workplace than Caucasians on 8 out of the 10 survey items in Table 1 (p < .05). The only items where there were no statistical significant differences were on the statements ‘Stuttering has, at times, interfered with my job performance’ and ‘I have, at times, sought employment which requires little speaking’. So, in this sense, those who stutter and are non-caucasion face a double issue! Best regards, Dr. Marshall Rice
