This research goes to shows that discrimination and job-related difficulties are evident worldwide for people who stutter. I found this article to be upsetting because of the way employers looked and treated their employees who stuttered. Do you think that this discrimination occurred because of the employer’s lack of knowledge about stuttering? In your opinion how can we as Speech-Language Pathologists help people gain knowledge about stuttering to ultimately reduce stress and tension in the workplace? Future research related to this topic, looking at the employer and employee relationship and how challenges and discrimination within the workplace could be reduced would be interesting.
