Wow, Ann! That's a whole lot to deal with. I will tell you what my training mentor told me many years ago. Change behavior first, and feelings and attitudes will follow. The idea is to find a way to engage the parent in the treatment process--actually in the room doing something. Show her how and help her improve her 'technique'. Many parents are in denial and disengage because they feel helpless. When you show them something concrete to do, and when it is successful, they begin to change. You are thinking about this correctly. Do not give up, innovate.
