Your article touched on exactly how stuttering has influenced my brother's choice of career. He has stuttered since he was 4 and the type of speech therapy he was given implemented avoidance behaviors to "make it easier" for him to speak. Because of this he covered up his stutter by chosing easier words and singing. He originally went into the field of Speech-Language Pathology until one of his professors told him he could not be an SLP with his stutter. Needless to say he switched schools for musical engineering and is now a musician. As much as he loves his music career I can still tell that he still has not accepted himself. I am definitely going to have him read your article. He will definitely benefit from it! Graduate SLP student C.W. Post
