Hi Courtney, Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed reading my story/article. Regarding overcoming fears, literally speaking, I won't say I have 'overcome' all of my fears. In my case, they are still present, and have the tendency of springing up when least desired. :-) It is just that I have learned, and still learning, to dis-identify from my fears. It is also very true that when something which is most feared is done often, the fear subsides, and in some cases even vanishes. But, when you translate that to stuttering; speaking situations are so exhaustive in nature that one has to encounter many new variants for the first time – and that is where “fear” again pops up. This is where dis-identifying with the fear helps. The following quote sums everything up quite beautifully: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear. -- Ambrose Redmoon” It is an ongoing process that takes its own time. You also ask:>>” Did you receive any professional therapy for your stuttering, or did you learn to control it on your own? “<< Yes, I did have some speech therapy. Not a lot though. Good luck with your studies and career as a SLP! Best regards, Prakhar
