Hi Rachel, Things here are a bit different. Unlike some other countries, here there aren't any SLPs attached with schools. The teachers are left to deal with a student's stutter, in accordance with their own perception of stuttering. They might have best of intentions, but their half baked knowledge about stuttering may not result in any good. This is not to generalize anything, since I have had teachers who were considerate towards my stutter. But, then again, essentially they were ill equipped to deal pragmatically with my stuttering – not their fault either! An alternative to this can be, the child's SLP along with his/her parents should set up a meeting with the teachers and educate them on stuttering, and how to deal with issues resulting out of it. The parents need to be pro-active over here. It's heartening to know about the approach being employed over there. These school years are absolutely critical! I wish you all the best with your studies, and your becoming a SLP! Best regards, Prakhar
