Thanks, Rossana! You ask: >>”How did teachers and professors react to your stuttering? I know you mentioned that you would try to get out of oral exams in high school by pretending to be sick Did anyone ever catch on, and were they ever sensitive to the fact that you stuttered? ”<< As a whole I'd say my teachers reacted in a positive vein towards my stuttering. Being naïve to stuttering, as they were, they viewed stuttering from their own perspective. As such, often there would be advices, which won't do me any good. :-) Sometimes, some of them would kind of force me into oral scenarios thinking it would help me get over my stuttering. Because some of them thought – as a normal “fluent” person would think – that stuttering is caused due to nervousness, so subjecting me to potential fearful situations would help me tide over my nervousness, as such my stuttering would vanish. As you might have guessed, that never happened! Although they had the best of intentions, they were just ill equipped to deal with stuttering. Except for a very few and rare incidents, where they were impatient, my teachers were considerate towards my stutter. And no, I've never got caught faking illness – I had considerable skills! ;-) Thanks for the questions. Take care, Prakhar
